About Me
Hi! My name's Tristan, I'm an Engineering Physics student at the University of British Columbia (UBC), a program that combines electrical, software, and mechanical engineering with fundemental courses in physics and math. When I'm not buried in school work, I love to build things and explore the outdoors. I've been skiing for as long as I can remember, and have always enjoyed hiking and camping. At some point after my degree, I hope to travel the world and explore my passion for cooking.
Since working an internship at VoltSafe, building a robot during robot summer, and beginning my uni-wheeled capstone project, I've developed a great interest in embedded systems and robotics. I'm currently working on a few projects including the self-balacing uni-wheeled robot (which should be getting it's own page soon), this website, and a few other things that aren't quite ready to be shared yet. I hope to use this website to share my projects, and to document my learning and experiences.
Before beginning my undergrad at UBC, I cross country skied competitively for the Telemark Nordic Club in West Kelowna, BC. Over the years I collected multiple medals and podium finishes at provicial and national level competitions. I believe that my experience in competitive skiing has taught me the value of hard work, and the importance of setting goals and working towards them. I hope to bringing this mindset to my work in engineering, and to continue to push myself to learn and grow.
